Starbucks Ethiopia Sun Dried Sidamo
What makes this bean different from most coffees? Sun dried. The process most used today is stripping the bean from the cherry and mechanically fermenting them or wet milling. Sun drying on the other hand is a time tested way of naturally letting the whole cherry dehydrogenate, making the bean easy to remove from the shell.
But how does it taste?
The Ethiopia is a medium-bodied roast. While not as rich as some of the bolder roast such as Verona, the Sidamo claims “lush black cherry notes and exotic layers of cocoa”. I’m not sure my palette noticed the black cherry but the cocoa shines through. Although this is a bit pricy at $12.00 for 8 oz., if you are willing to give it a shot, you won’t be let down. Can’t you just taste the Ethiopian sun beating down on you?
